When it comes to burning your wax inaJar there are a few tips to make sure you get the most out of your candle.
What comes first?...
It is important to create a burn "memory" the first time you burn your candle. You should allow at least 3 hours for the wax to melt and evenly reach the sides of the jar to optimise burn time. This will ensure the aroma is released as much as possible and help to prevent tunnelling. Tunnelling is when wax is adhered to the sides and will not melt each time the wick is lit. Place your jar in an open room away from any drafts as this may create an uneven burn.
Future burning...
Ensure the wick is trimmed to no less than a 1/4 of an inch to prevent smoking and accelerated burning. Do not trim the wick if you have not achieved a full melted wax pool. Each time you burn your candle allow it to burn until a complete melted wax pool has reached the sides of the jar (usually 3 hours). This will achieve the best results from your wax inaJar and help prevent tunnelling. To trim your wick extinguish your candle and allow the wax to cool and set before gently breaking off the excess wick with your fingertips. Avoid getting any wick residue in the wax as this may affect your future burn.
Wick won't stay lit?
Wood wicks can be a little temperamental and not stay lit. Try lighting the wick from the base of the wick (closest to the wax) rather than the top of the wick. You can also scrape a little of the wax out from around the wick and try lighting it again.
